Jocko River Phase 2 reconstructed channel.
| | The Jocko River is a critical bull trout and westslope cutthroat trout stream tributary to the Flathead River. RDG as part of a restoration team, assisted the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes in preparing the Jocko River Master Plan, a planning document designed to guide watershed restoration activities for the next decade. The top priority project, The Jocko River – Hatchery Reach Demonstration Project, was implemented in 2004. The second phase of the Hatchery Reach was completed in 2008. Project elements included 5,100 ft of channel reconstruction, enhancing 4,400 ft of sidechannel, and converting 2,000 ft of the existing channel into floodplain wetlands. Nineteen large wood structures, 15 graded riffles, and 2,000 ft of vegetated soil lifts were built for bank stabilization and habitat enhancement.
