The Three Sisters Irrigation District diversion dam on Whychus Creek is a fish passage barrier.
| | RDG is working with the Upper Deschutes Watershed Council, the Three Sisters Irrigation District, and the U.S. Forest Service on a fish passage and stream rehabilitation project. The project will include screening the largest diversion on Whychus Creek and raising the channel bed up to 4 ft downstream of the diversion dam. Diversion screening and reconnecting the channel through the reach is expected to reduce fish entrainment into the currently unscreened diversion, as well as re-establish fish passage on this tributary to the Upper Deschutes River. The project partners are currently reviewing project design documents. Project construction is anticipated in 2009 and 2010.
