Existing conditions on the Sycan River.
| | USFWS retained RDG to prepare an assessment and restoration feasibility study on 7 miles of the Sycan River near Beatty, Oregon. The river has been affected by a long period of season long grazing. RDG integrated GPS data into a LiDAR/bathymetry data set characterizing the project area. A calibrated hydraulic model was developed to evaluate channel hydraulics and flood elevations associated with the flood frequency. Flood inundation maps were compared to flood air photos to determine accuracy. A large wood fish habitat project was completed in 2008. Additional projects are planned for 2009.
